Jo's Barber Shop

After watching me cut Wyatt's hair, Caden climbed up on the stool and said 'My Turn!'
I was kind of in shock. I never thought he would sit for me to cut his hair, but he actually sat more still than Wyatt. Caden's hair is SO different than Wyatt's. It is so long and silky I wasn't sure what to do and am a little sad at how short it got, but heck I won't need to give him a hair cut for quite a while. And he does look pretty handsome! :)

Friendship Award

Every month our school works on a different character trait. The first month of school was "Friendliness." Each teacher picks 2 students from their class that stand out in this area to receive an award. Collin and I were so proud of Wyatt for being one of the kindergarten Friendship Award Winners.

And I had to bring my video camera since I wasn't sure how our shy little guy would do getting up in front of all the people. As you can see he didn't miss a beat!

Changing Table

Well thanks to craigslist, we were able to sell our baby furniture to a very nice family who needs it for their new foster baby. But I have to say, I got a bit sad seeing it leave. Don't get me wrong, we are DONE. I am very content with two boys. Over the moon actually, but I get a little sad at every 'Big Boy' step they take. It just goes too darn fast!
And is it weird that I got the most emotional over the darn changing table. Heck, I should be jumping for joy. I mean really, that is the exact location where I have been peed on (many times, mostly by Wyatt) pooped on, and learned to use a suppository. But it is also where I cried with the boys on occasion, had great face to face interaction with them, gave zurberts, tickles and kisses. It is even where we did our 'monthly' photo of the boys. If you really think about it during that first year, you spend A LOT of time at the changing table.

Where did all that baby fat go? I miss it!

One of my favorite pictures of Caden on the table

Oh those thighs!!! :)

Such big boys now!

Pumpin' Patch

Wyatt wanted to take Caden back to see the animals and pumpkins at Lattin's.
The boys had fun, but didn't spend much time with the animals. They were all about getting pumpkins!

Yep, Caden does have a large head! He couldn't get it out of the sign after we took the picture. I had to turn it just right for it to fit out. Needless to say it kind of scared him.

Caden kept trying to pick up big pumpkins. The sound effects were hilarious!

Then he found HIS PUMPKIN! We tried to pick out a nicer one, but nope! Had to have the acorn shaped one with a soft spot on it.

The boy loves his pumpkin!

So does this boy! :)

Measuring

Collin decided to pick a spot to mark the boys' height. Our hall closet was the perfect place. And will be good as long as the boys don't grow taller than 7' 2'' :)

Caden didn't quite get 'look straight ahead!'

Silly boys

Meeting Miss Mia

Wyatt wouldn't hold her but he sure was interested in her and loved patting her back

Doesn't get much sweeter than that!

It was a long 2 1/2 weeks waiting for this!

Mia was trying to find her thumb and Wyatt was explaining to her how easy it really was.

Celebrating 60 years

Wyatt's strep throat and Caden's ear infection were not going to stop us from making a family celebration this weekend! We did have to delay our trip by a day to make sure nobody was contagious, but we enjoyed every bit of our 24 hour trip to Nana and Papas. And what is a Hoksbergen gathering without a photo shoot!? :)
The 4 Dales
(Kevin Dale, Howard Dale, Wyatt Dale and Dale Wayne)

Nana and Papa with the kiddos

We were there to celebrate Grandma Billie and Papa Howard's 60th wedding anniversary!
Here they are with the 4 grandkids and 4 great grandkids

I think we all wanted to do this just to see Kevin holding a baby. :)
And as I look at, I am thinking it was kind of cruel to make the one who had a c-section 2 weeks ago hold the biggest kid. Sorry Kimmer!

Around the house

The boys watching them hydro seed the back yard.
After watching them do our entire back yard they watched the truck out front while they did the neighbors' yards.

Wyatt watching the painters touch up our front porch.
Yes, we had a jammy day today! Wyatt came home from school yesterday with strep throat, so we had a lazy day of watching cartoons, playing legos and watching workers on the house

And this one is learning very quickly that there is no red juice on the carpet. Yes, he is the one who constantly tests the boundaries as you can tell by him trying to get as close to the carpet as possible without actually being on it.

Sleep like a baby?

The other night I heard a thump and went into to find this. Caden had somehow pushed his bed railing out and fallen on the floor. The funniest part was that he NEVER woke up. Not even when I put him back in bed.
Not sure why, but he had a rough night last night. We think it may be his cold. He got up several times asking if it was time to get up and at 4am I found him sitting on the floor next to his night light. Not sure if he was awake when he got there or what.

Lattin's Cider Mill

Wyatt had his first field trip today. I took the afternoon off so I could help chaperone. It was so fun and refreshing to not only be with 5 year olds, but to kick back and enjoy the time with my group of boys and not be the one 'in charge' of the entire day.

Lattin's is a local cider mill that is so fun to visit. Each student got to put two apples in the press and then they all tasted the cider. They also got to sample all the different kids of cider (strawberry, raspberry and black berry) They even added ice cream to one and we go a sample a blackberry/cider milk shake. YUM! After petting and feeding the animals and a train ride each student got to take home their own bottle of cider.

Wyatt was giggling the entire time the goats were eating from his hands.

Wyatt and Kristian

Bereket, Wyatt, Kristian, Dylan and John
Such a great group of kids! 18 5 year olds and all of them were so polite and kind. Mrs. Nolan was telling me that this is one of the sweetest, kindest classes she has had and after watching them today I could see that. I think my 5th graders could learn a few things from these kiddos! :)

Sunshine Tots

Caden started Sunshine Tots today. It is the 2-year-old program at Wyatt's old preschool. He goes for 2 hours on Tuesdays. The entire way in he kept saying 'My school now!'

He was SO excited to wear his new backpack! And Pastor Chuck happened to be going in at the same time and Caden informed him 'My School Now!'

Hanging up his backpack

This boy is addicted to washing his hands right now! Lucky for him, it's the first thing they do when they get in.

Caden loves Teacher Julie!

Within 5 minutes, Caden had located ALL the fire trucks in the room and had them lined up. Then while all the other kids were playing quietly or clinging to mom or dad, Caden pushed the big one around the room screaming 'Ladder Truck Coming!' Obviously warms up to a new place a bit quicker than Wyatt. :)
