Then and Now :)

Last Monday our friends the Kok's stopped by.  We hadn't seen them for a while, but as always, the kids had a blast.  We were commenting on how crazy it is that Wyatt and Lauren are heading on to 1st grade and it seems like last week they met for the first time.  Val got a pic of the two together and did a little trip down memory lane...
Thanks Val!

What a weekend!

The boys and I had quite the 4 day weekend up north!  All three of us are exhausted, so we must have had lots of fun! Here's a recap...
Thursday~Meet Nana, Kimmer, Cole and Mia The Kangaroo Farm in Arlington (lots of great pictures!)
Friday~Meet Cousin Cole, Cousin Carter and his cousins to be in The Old Settler's Kiddie Parade and dress up as Super Heros!  The boys had a blast!!!
Saturday~Run my first 5K (with no walking!!!), run to Nana and Papa's pick up kids, back to Ferndale for the Grand Parade, to the park for lunch and bounce house fun, back to the house for a lazy afternoon and sleepover with Cole
Sunday~Play, ride bikes, color, dig in the dirt (all before noon) then stop and see Daddy at the fire station on the way home.

This Momma had a baby Joey in her pouch and was very protective of it.  Wyatt was really into this one and wanted to follow her around and see the baby.  But she wouldn't let anyone close.  This is the best shot I could get of her full pouch.
 Caden LOVED feeding the animals!

Mia had to be in with all the action

 L to R
"Awesome Man" aka Caden (this is from his favorite book right now)
"Bumble Bee" aka Wyatt
"Iron Man" aka Cousin Cole
"Hulk" aka Cousin Carter
"Ninja" & "Spiderman" aka Cole and Conner L. (Carter's Cousins)

Angie, Me, Kim, Tina ready to run!
Caden finally getting a taste of his own medicine .:)  Mia stealing his blueberries.
And out of everyone in the family, I think she is the one and only who could get away with taking his food.  He loves his Mia!

Sleepover!
Only Caden would ride the bumps through the entire parade route!

Great Wolf Lodge

One of my favorite parts!
Wrist bands that are also your room key!  Head to the water park and don't have to worry about your room key!!  Wyatt bawled tonight when I mentioned cutting it off.

This was Caden most of the time :)
Free wolf ears with dinner!

Who is the 10 year old?  Wyatt looks SO grown up here!

Tired boy
Hanging on to make it to 8pm story time
The boys LOVED their 'Wolf Den'
We woke up to Caden saying, 'Brother, are you still up there?'
Story time

Ready for day 2!
Watching the big bucket drop

Heading up to the big slides!

Yes, we have our dentist on speed dial!

There is something about our boys and TEETH...
When Wyatt was 2 he chipped his front tooth. Then about a year later bonked heads with Cousin Cole and killed that tooth.  We have been waiting for 3 years for that thing to finally come out.
Then there is Caden...yes a bit more dramatic!
When he was 1 he feel and ripped out one of his top teeth.  When he is a little older they will x-ray to make sure the spacing isn't messed up. Then fast forward to Monday night.
Caden playing in the backyard with Brother and his two friends Lauren and Ben.  Typical rough housing where Caden ends up on the bottom of the pile. Normal right?  Well he comes up screaming, bloody and bottom front tooth moved forward. We got it to stop bleeding, but he was obviously in PAIN.  One more trip to the dentist and we find out he broke the bone that holds the tooth in place.  So the fix you might ask??  Mom hold him still while I push it back. Wow, that was fun for NOBODY!  She got it most of the way back.  So now we wait and see if it calcifies and is ok.  If it 'dies' then they will have to take it and the root out. Meanwhile Wyatt has done a really nice job of teaching him how to 'side bite.'  Today is day 3 and he is doing much better. Doesn't seem to bug him unless he forgets and tries to bite.
So yes we are taking donations for our orthodontist fund!

Addicted to Gardening

Yep, I think we are!  We are already planning on how to expand our garden for next year.  And it may just include some landscaping!  Our tomato plants have gotten huge!  The other day I went to get some lettuce and realized a few of our lettuce plants were hidden by them.  Caden checks on them about every day and lets us know that they aren't red yet.

Yummiest Sugar Snap Peas I have ever had! And twice as big as the ones we bought in the store!
The broccoli keeps coming and coming and is so tasty!
Caden is a big help with the watering :)
First zucchini from our garden, fresh of the BBQ. I only got a few pieces.  Caden downed most of mine.
He loves his peas!  He likes to open it up and eat each one, then crunch on the shell.
YUM!

Our little reader!

At the beginning of summer when I told Wyatt he needed to practice his reading over the summer, his response was 'mom I already know how to read.'
But then I had him read the end of the year letter from his teacher that explained how if you don't use it, you will loose it.  Between that, a trip to the library and me giving up on asking....he now reads for about 1/2 hour on his own.  Every morning this week I hear him in his room click on his bedside light and just lay in bed listening to him turning the pages.  I love it!  The other day Caden got up before Wyatt was 'done with his book' so Wyatt invited him to join him.  Gotta love that even more!!!
I could have watched this all morning!
Couple more days in a row and I told Wyatt we could go buy a Cheetah book.
He is kind of excited.  The boy loves his big cats!!

Someone kind of likes fudge bars!

Warning...video overload

So these are mostly for the grandparents who were asking the boys about swimming lessons. So don't feel the need to watch every single one.

Not sure why Blogger put these right in the middle of all the videos, but I thought these 'before and after' photos were cute.

Happy Birthday Cole!

We went up to Nana and Papa's to help celebrate Cole's birthday this weekend.
The boys had a blast in the bounce house.

Oh ya, and some adults had fun too
Cousin Carter doing some backflips. Amazing to see how quickly this little guy has recovered!

Most of the Hoksbergen Clan made it!  We missed you Kevin!
