Seattle Aquarium

We have talked about taking the boys to the Seattle Aquarium for quite a while so when there was a 1/2 price Groupon, we took advantage of it. The boys loved it and we all enjoyed just having a family day.

Caden did his little squat thing a lot, it was really cute.

Wyatt just happened to be learning about octopus at school so he had me take lots of pictures of this guy. He loved it when we had front row seats when it was feeding time.

My favorite picture from the day

Caden loved the Harbor Seals. He kept yelling at them to get back in the water.

Sea Otters are always my favorite and today we had a special treat. A momma and her 2 week old pup. It was SO cute. I could have watched it for an hour. She was nursing and cleaning her. The pup was so furry and cute! Wyatt and I watched for quite a while, while Caden was happy to move on to playing on the nearby stairs.

We pulled a bench up and had lunch while the boys watched the ferry boats. This made their day! What boy doesn't love boats.

Mr. Responsible

Wyatt got another award at school last week. This time is was a 'Responsibility Award' given by his buddy, Mrs. Mager. Mrs. Mager is in the lunchroom and walks the kindergartners to the flag pole. Her and Wyatt are quite buds. Although we keep telling Wyatt what a great thing it is to get these awards, he still leaves the assembly in tears. This boy sure hates attention, but can hold it together for a smile.

Winter Blast 2012!!!

We thought 9 inches was a lot...Woke up to double that next day
Our heat pump obviously hasn't worked in a few days.

Traded in the ruler for a tape measure
17 inches. Then the next day, that 17 inches was under about 1/2 inch of ice rain

Nice work Collin!

We heard ice rain was coming so Collin got most of the wait off our patio.

After we lost power we headed to Costco to buy a generator and get some warm dinner
The drive was interesting to say the least
It was crazy out there actually! Trees were down everywhere and Tumwater was like a ghost town. Everything was dark. Friday I had to go to West Olympia just to get any cell service and gas. That was quite an experience.

This is what was under the 17inches of snow. What a mess.

I have to say, the boys were so good. No power for 24 hours didn't bug them one bit. Sometimes I so wish I had their carefree attitude! Give them some stickers and a head lamp and they were happy as could be.

Ok, we did watch a few movies, until the DVD player died.

They loved having a picnic in the family room by the fire.

We bailed!

After 24 hours of no power, Collin had to head to work. I was set, we have a gas fireplace, heat! Gas stove and lots of snacks, food! A generator, so our fridge was running and we had one lamp. But after Collin headed to work, we lost cell service and phone. Alone at home with two kids, no power and no contact with the outside world, I wasn't sure. So I dug out the car and we went for a drive to find cell service. Talking with people who had seen on the news that we could be w/o power for several more days, I decided it was time to bail. First plan, go to Castle Rock...scratch that I-5 was closed. So we made the drive to Nana and Papa's. Ended up being an easy drive. Everyone else was stuck at home. We ended up having a great visit. Nana loved having company and the boys were SO excited to see everyone.

Caden loved going to walks with Papa

Boys were just a little excited to see Papa!

Miss Mia sure was happy to see us! :)

Waiting patiently for the signal that he can go out!

9 inches and counting

The boys working on their fort

Now it's time for a snowman

Collin got his workout in for the day

Time for some hot cocoa
Can you still call it that if it's room temp?

The boys did pretty good walking in it. Caden got stuck a couple times but still loved it.

Bye Bye Tonsils!

After way too many sore throats and rounds of Strep, the doctor decided Wyatt needed to have his tonsils out. He has been such a trouper! Did great all morning and once we got home he started getting sick and has had a little trouble keep anything down, but this big boy just grabs his bowl when he needs it and hasn't complained once. He even tried playing Legos for a while. But after I convinced him he doesn't need to pretend to feel ok, he snuggled in for another movie.

Silly juice in and a VERY relaxed boy. :)
(see video below)

Popsicle #1

This weekend Wyatt and I worked on some of his homework that his teacher sent home. Today, just 4 hours after having his tonsils out this sweat heart went to his folder and said he had to do more work. I tried to convince him to take today off, but he wanted to do some. I found the easiest thing for him to do and he completed a Dot-to-Dot before deciding he would rather watch a movie.

Before I started taking the video, he was trying to grab the things off of the page.
I think they give the kids 'silly juice' to help the parents relax too!
